DoubleFives

It counted better than you. It will show you how.

All-Fives Dominoes vs a Trained AI · 18 min · Punishing

All-Fives dominoes against a policy network trained by self-play through twenty-two generations. It sees exactly what you see and knows nothing about your hand — when it beats you, it is because it counted better. Coach Mode shows you the count it made. Standard rules by default, plus RaceHorse and other variants, at two, three or four seats.

Why It Works

Why ambitious players love it

A self-play-trained opponent that sees only what you see — no peeking at your hand

Coach Mode: the AI explains the count behind every move it made

Standard All-Fives by default, with RaceHorse and two further variants

Two, three or four seats — the three-hand game plays nothing like the two

An ELO rating, so "getting better" is measurable rather than a feeling

A rules page that covers all four modes, because they genuinely differ

How to Play

  1. 1

Play a tile so the open ends sum to a multiple of five — that sum is your score

  2. 2

Watch what the AI declines to play; it is telling you what it holds

  3. 3

Count the board before you commit. The arithmetic is the whole game.

  4. 4

Lose a few. Then turn on Coach Mode and find out what you kept missing.

"I lost eleven straight, turned on Coach Mode, and discovered I had been ignoring the fives on the spinner the entire time." — Play-test note, 2026
